## De'Aaron Fox: Judge Him By His Career, Not Just a Tumultuous Season

De'Aaron Fox is capable of lighting up the scoreboard. On any given night, he can score 25 points and dish out seven assists while locking down on defense. However, his short stint with the San Antonio Spurs last season fell short of expectations, leaving fans questioning his value.

Before the trade, Fox was a fan favorite, considered one of the top five point guards in the NBA. His arrival in San Antonio sparked excitement about playing alongside the highly-touted Victor Wembanyama.  But their pairing was plagued by setbacks. The Spurs went just 2-3 in the five games where both players shared the court, and Fox's season ended prematurely due to a nagging finger injury.

This offseason, fans anticipated another chapter in the Fox-Wembanyama story. Yet, the buzz hasn't materialized.  A minor muscle strain reported by Fox over the summer fueled fan anxieties. He was even labeled one of the most overrated players in the NBA, with concerns about his shooting ability potentially hindering his fit alongside Wembanyama.

**Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover**

Before jumping to conclusions, it’s crucial to remember that Fox played just 17 games for the Spurs and was hampered by injuries throughout.  He missed out on playing with Wembanyama in 12 of those games and found himself sharing the court with Chris Paul, a veteran point guard who started all 82 games for San Antonio.

The decision to play both Fox and Paul together raised eyebrows, as two floor generals can sometimes clash.  In this unfamiliar dynamic, without Wembanyama to facilitate offensive flow, Fox struggled to find his rhythm.

While last season was a mixed bag for Fox in San Antonio, it's important to evaluate him based on his entire career body of work, not just these limited appearances. With a healthy season and the opportunity to build chemistry with Wembanyama, Fox has the potential to reclaim his status as one of the league's elite point guards.
